How to build a terrarium with a cool moss wall for a background.
Grab a jar.
Hot glue some sort of cotton inside half of the jar's wall. (video will explain further)
Collect moss outside using a sharp object. Make sure that the strips of moss are long and not crumbly.
If the moss appears to be dry, rinse and soak it in water for 2 minutes
Make mud by mixing soil and water.
Stick the moss to the cotton inside the jar.
Add soil to the bottom.
Add animals. Recommended animals are isopods, springtails or millipedes. This step is optional.
Add a light (optional)
Grab a nice well fitting lid with holes or use a mesh for a lid. Place in an area with indirect sunlight.
Mist once every 2 weeks. The terrarium should remain moist for a week +.
(if you added animals): feed them food scraps once every week. Options include kale, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and cucumber. Remove once the food is rotting.
Congrats! You've made a mini ecosystem in the jar!
