New AnimalCouncil Documentary comes out next month!
WHAT IS THE INFORMAL ZOO?
SAN FRANCISCO, PACIFICA, PESCADERO, CA - Waves splash over the rocks in the intertidal zone in California. It is high tide. Sea stars and anemones feed on mussels at the bottom, as crabs forage on algae. Small marine copepods and worms filter feed and glide through the vast waters. You are probably thinking about a vast tidepool in Half Moon Bay, California. But these are actually in-captive animals of the Informal Zoo. The Informal Zoo was created by a 7th Grader in California. This person has been keeping marine animals since 2020 and has been breeding periwinkles since 2022. The zoo humanely keeps the animals in a huge aquarium equipped with many machines that supply them air and mimic their natural environment. The zoo was not founded for pleasure - first it was under the title of happy willow, but now it is an educational institution by AnimalCouncil. 115pet's Informal Zoo is a small marine aquarium based in San Francisco, California.
