Why is the Happy Craft Blue?

We recently turned the happy craft blue. Here's why.

You'd think that because the sky is blue and the ocean is blue that a blue drone would quite literally get lost overseas. But actually, the blue tape serves another purpose.

The happy craft was wrapped today with blue tape.

While flying the happy craft HW-01 in hot temperatures, studies show that blue paint makes the inside of the drone more frost tolerant. Since blue tape reflects blue light, it keeps the battery warm to freezing temperatures, so we can fly in cold places such as lake Tahoe.

We hope you follow our upcoming adventure to Seattle, where we will film marine creatures for California's Diverse Ecosystem.
